Nominations Open: Creative Environmental Award
The Friends of the San Francisco Estuary announces a call for artists to submit work for the State of the San Francisco Estuary Conference, a local conference showcasing the science and need for action to protect the San Francisco Estuary.
In an effort to inspire us to think more critically about our actions and their impacts, this element of the Conference Awards Program uses the arts and creativity to share knowledge, broaden the conversation, educate, and incite action to improve the San Francisco Estuary.
Criteria for eligibility
Creative Environmental Awards submissions may include 2D works including graphic design, drawings, painting, photographs, collage, and mixed media; films (both shorts and commercial length); and performative works including dance, theatre, poetry, and music. For 2D work, please submit a photograph of the artwork, and for other media, please submit a video in an easy to access format as to file size and appropriate length for a video.
Selection will be based on originality, creativity, and the effectiveness of the message to protect the Estuary. First place awardees will be presented with an award and check for $300 at the State of the Estuary Conference, October 28-29, 2025. All artists accepted may be asked to display or perform their work, limited to five minutes, at the conference.
Nominations must be received by 11:59 pm, Friday, August 23, 2025.
