Julie Beagle

Director

BIOGRAPHY

Julie Beagle, Director, manages overall program direction and the San Francisco Estuary Partnership staff.

Julie previously served as the Environmental Services Branch Chief for the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) San Francisco District, where she focused on integrating nature-based solutions into USACE studies, projects, and operations; oversaw environmental compliance for USACE projects; supervised more than 20 staff; and helped guide major resilience, restoration, and beneficial reuse initiatives.

Before joining USACE, she worked as a fluvial and estuarine geomorphologist throughout the rivers and wetlands of California. And also spent ten years at the San Francisco Estuary Institute, leading sediment studies, and sea level rise and adaptation efforts, where she worked with land managers on California’s North Coast to reduce fine sediment runoff into salmonid streams and contributed to watershed-scale river restoration projects in the Napa River Watershed.

Julie earned a master’s degree in environmental planning from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree in history and environmental science from Barnard College at Columbia University.
