The Guadalupe River watershed is located just south of the San Francisco South Bay and begins in the eastern Santa Cruz Mountains. This historically rich watershed is one of seven anchor watersheds in the San Fancisco Bay and is home to the New Almaden Mining District, one of the largest historical mercury mines in the world. The San Francisco Bay-Delta is named in the federal Clean Water Act as one of 28 “estuaries of national significance." For over 20 years, the San Francisco Estuary Partnership has worked together with local communities and federal and state agencies to improve the health of California’s most urbanized estuary.
