The Granada Native Gardens, a supplemental environmental project, transformed a 1/3 acre vacant lot owned by the Livermore School District into a native plant park.
SFEP assists the San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board in overseeing Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEPs) that dischargers may complete or fund to satisfy part of a monetary penalty (administrative civil liability). These penalties arise from enforcement actions taken by the Water Board for illegal discharges into our rivers, streams, and Estuary. SEPs direct money to projects that will enhance the beneficial (environmental) uses of the waters of the state and benefit the public.
The Estuary Partnership, as a third party, provides project management support to the San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board for Supplemental Environmental Projects to ensure that the projects are completed according to work plans and schedules.
